Book review | The vets at Hope Green by Sheila Norton

The Vets at Hope Green by [Norton, Sheila]

Sam has always dreamed of working with animals…

But her receptionist job in a London vets is not hitting the spot. Unsure whether a busy city life is for her, she flees to her Nana Peggy’s idyllic country village.

But despite the rolling hills and its charming feel, life in Hope Green is far from peaceful. On first meeting Joe, the abrupt and bad-tempered local vet, Sam knows she must get him on side, but that is easier said than done…

With her dream close enough to touch, will she get there, or will events conspire against her…?

Review – 4/5

I know i am supposed to only review once a week, but i have been reading ALOT recently and i devoured this book in just two days.

It’s not something i usually read, and i picked this up for £1.00 where i work as we are having a big book event. So the link i will provide you is for Amazon but i am pretty sure it will be cheaper elsewhere where ever you are. I wouldn’t of picked this up for full price as my contemporary/humour/romance/womens fiction cheesy fun good feeling type books are minimal – However i needed to get out of the book hangover after reading Auschwitz, so this little cheese ball was a quaint pick me up.

I actually enjoyed it for all of it’s predictable and corniness. But that’s the point in these type of books isn’t it? They are meant for just that, to enjoy, smile and feel good. It worked for me because the author has a fantastic writing style, it was well written and it makes a cheesy book good.

This is your simple, woman is tired of her city life, unfulfilled job, not so compatible boyfriend and wants something new – Fresh start in the country with her nana. It’s a cute read with a nice happy ending. Bit of romance, but i think it’s easy to connect with as we have often felt this way ourselves in life. Stuck in a job, shitty boyfriend/girlfriend.

I read it in a few days because i just really enjoyed it, it made me smile and chuckle at the end bits no matter how OTT or abit cringe but i say that with good heart, this was not a terrible book it was a good book. Once to pick up to take away or just need a break from all those thrillers and emotional books *cough* – I guessed the ending, and most of the story which made me skim through the last few chapters.

As i had not read anything by this author before, this book was actually released in four parts and has been put together as a full book which is what i have so if you get this book where ever you are, don’t be alarmed if you can only get it in parts!

I would recommend this to anyone who does like to read beach/happy/reads regularly!
